International Gemological Academy (IGA) was incorporated and established in this paradise island of gems
because Sri Lanka (formally “Ceylon”) is the ancient international centre in the Gem industry, has a high
concentration of gems & a well-established gem industry from the time immemorial
With an Industry oriented syllabus, interactive teaching system and facilities developed over 25 years, IGA offers
accurate theory lessons the real Gemological Lecture hall and world-class practical training in the fully equipped
gemological laboratory. Guided by an internationally qualified consultant gemologist, students gain in-depth
knowledge of gems & skills in identification methods of gems, treatments & synthetics.
Expert guidance on Valuation, Trading, Marketing, Gem business & export/import procedures, Gem business
words, Standards, Ethics & Regulations to develop an understanding of the Local and International Gem trade.

Diploma in Gemology (1998) from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain
Former Asst. Secretary of the Organization of Professional Associations in Sri Lanka
Former President-elect, Secretary & Treasurer of the Gemmologists Association of Sri Lanka
Former Secretary of Association of Small & Medium Enterprises of Tourism Sri Lanka (ASMET)
Special training on Teaching of Diamond Grading at the HRD Antwerp
Started the first international standard Diamond course in Sri Lanka jointly with the leading diamond institute in Europe.
Initiated the historical first ever meeting & discussion with the Gem testing laboratories of Sri Lanka to develop the harmonization of gem testing laboratories in Sri Lanka
Founder & the Chief organizer of the IGA Gem conference
Former Chairman of the Jewels Gem & Jewellery trade show organizing committee
